Ms. Françoise REMARCK, Minister of Culture and La Francophonie, on a working visit to the National Steering Committee for Public-Private Partnerships (CNP-PPP)

On Thursday 12 May 2022, the National Steering Committee for Public-Private Partnerships (CNP-PPP) visited the site of the central market in the municipality of Abobo, with the heads of the various operators bidding for the call for tenders launched by the CNP-PPP in March 2022.

The purpose of the visit was to enable these operators to get a feel for the realities on the ground and make a better technical and financial offer for the project.

The project covers an area of 4.5 hectares in the city centre of Abobo. It will include a large, modern, 1-storey central retail market with a floor area of almost 40,000 m² and specialised premises such as butcher’s shops, fishmongers and cold stores. It will also include maintenance and social facilities, such as an infirmary, a day care centre and a prayer room.

For two hours, the technicians of the Abobo town hall and the operators went through the entire perimeter that will house the future central market. The model of the market was explained to them by the Chief Technician.

The end of the visit was marked by a question and answer session between the officials of the town hall and the operators.

The central market of the Abobo commune, damaged by a fire during the night of 17 to 18 September 2017, has been included in the programme of activities of the Emergency Plan for the Abobo commune (Puca). For the implementation of this important project, the State has advocated a public-private partnership (PPP) approach, in order to take advantage of the financial and technical capacity of the private sector.
