A Burundian delegation led by Mrs. Christine NIRAGIRA, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning and President of the Burundian National PPP Committee stayed in Abidjan from 27 June to 1 July 2022, as part of an exchange trip organised in partnership with the Burundi European Union delegation.

The stakes of this mission for the members of the Burundian delegation were, on the one hand, to reach a better understanding of the life cycle of a PPP project through the presentation of case studies and visits of successful PPP projects or those under study in Côte d’Ivoire and, on the other hand, to collect operational recommendations for the improvement of the organisational structure and functioning of the ARCP and the National PPP Committee.

The visit started with a day of discussions with the whole CNP-PPP team on the Ivorian experience in PPPs, the institutional and regulatory framework of PPPs, the CNP-PPPs operational organisation and strategy for the development of PPPs in Côte d’Ivoire. Subsequently, the delegation had the opportunity to meet on site with stakeholders in PPP projects, such as the Office National de l’Eau Potable (ONEP), the Compagnie Ivoirienne de Production d’Electricité (CIPREL) and Clean Eburnie, a company in charge of the Centre of Recycling and Landfill of KOSSIHOUEN (CVET-KOSSIHOUEN).

It should be noted that after Côte d’Ivoire, the Burundian delegation will continue its experience-sharing mission to Senegal, Kenya and Morocco, which are among African countries with a rich experience in Public-Private Partnerships.
